1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Compass application ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms form a binding legal agreement between you and HRZN BTC, the operator of Compass.
2. Description of Service
Compass is a personal finance application that allows users to view and analyze their financial life through a Bitcoin lens. The Service reads your Bitcoin balance from your wallet's extended public key (xpub) on a read-only basis and combines it with the financial details you enter — such as accounts, exchange balances, and transactions — to provide net worth tracking, spending analysis, and goal planning, all denominated in both fiat currency and Bitcoin (sats/BTC).
3. Eligibility
Compass is open to everyone — there is no minimum age requirement to use the Service. If you are a minor, you should use Compass with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that all information you provide is accurate and complete, and that you are able to form a binding agreement (or have a parent or guardian who does so on your behalf). Compass is available only in jurisdictions where such services are permitted by law.
4. Account Registration
To access most features of Compass, you must create an account. Compass is passwordless — you sign in with a one-time link sent to your email (web) or a one-time code sent to your phone (mobile), so keeping your email account and phone secure is how you protect access to Compass. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hrznbtc@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized access. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. License and Payments
Compass is sold as a one-time lifetime license covering the desktop, mobile, and web apps. Lifetime licenses come with a 30-day money-back guarantee: request a refund within 30 days of purchase and we will refund you in full. After 30 days, fees are non-refundable except as required by law. Legacy monthly and annual subscriptions purchased before the switch to lifetime licensing continue unchanged, billed in advance, and can be cancelled anytime with access through the end of the paid period. We reserve the right to change pricing for new purchases at any time.
6. Financial Data and Read-Only Access
Compass connects to your Bitcoin wallet on a strictly read-only basis using your extended public key (xpub) — we can see your balance and history, but we can never spend, move, or touch your funds, and your private keys and recovery phrase are never requested, stored, or transmitted. We do not initiate transactions or manage investments on your behalf. The Service is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Always consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
7. Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Disclaimer
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are highly volatile assets. Information displayed in Compass reflects market data at the time of retrieval and may not be current. Compass makes no representations or warranties about the accuracy of price data or portfolio valuations. Past performance shown in the app is not indicative of future results.
8. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure; (c) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app; (d) use automated scripts to access the Service; (e) impersonate any person or entity; or (f) interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
9. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the Service — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software — are owned by HRZN BTC and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, HRZN BTC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless HRZN BTC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. You may also terminate your account at any time through the app settings. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Delaware.
